As I watched fireworks from the ambulance bay of my ED make their grand appearance against the midnight sky, one thought stubbornly persisted in my mind: yet another year has passed and has it been all I had hoped it would be? Whether you are the life-of-the- party or the I’m going-to-bed-early type, one cannot argue that there is something magical about the one night in the year where old meets new and fresh dreams are made. I cannot help but reflect every year on New Years Day of all the things that had passed, of all the goals met and unmet and all the hopes I have for the coming days of the new calendar.
This year was no different. As I’ve leafed through the pages of 2018 in my mind, I’ve come to a conclusion that I have a lot to be grateful for. The year might not have been perfect, but it certainly brought many wonderful moments and taught me a valuable lesson or two. Regardless of how I choose to look at it all, one thing is for sure: I have had the blessing of visiting many beautiful places this past year and bringing home an abundance of photographs, some of which have become my absolute favorite memories to share.
In terms of my photographic endeavors, 2018 has brought many wonderful surprises. For the first time ever this year, I had been honored to exhibit some of my photographs in a solo gallery show and had one photograph make it as a finalist of the prestigious Miami Street Photography Festival competition. These are personal victories I could only have dreamt of previously and they fill my heart with extreme joy. I choose to see them as stepping stones for more good things to come and encouragements to keep going on this photographic journey of mine…They are a beautiful reminder that hard work does pay off and dreams do come true…If we only allow ourselves to believe it.
So today, in honor and celebration of these little achievements, I want to share my favorite twenty five photographs from the places I traveled to in 2018. Some of them you may have already seen on my blog or on social media, some of them may be totally new and quite surprising, but I want you to know one thing: whenever I look at them, they all transport me back to the wonderful places they come from and all hold a special place in my heart. To that, I would like to wish you all a healthy, happy and fulfilling 2019…May we live yet another year in peace 🙂
The dusk came quickly and it started to rain again. The chilly, damp air permeated…

All great choices but my faves are the Cuba fish dock and the guy smoking in South Africa. Both are works of art.
