Of course I will go!

A few days after I had come back from Panama, a long time colleague from New York messaged me. We have not spoken in a long time, but have always followed each other’s paths on social media. I knew that he was doing a lot of cool things in the field of international medicine and even traveled as far as South Sudan with Doctors Without Borders. I think I might have even caught a glimpse of him on CNN 🙂 Rajeev’s message was simple. He’s started doing some NGO work in the refugee camps in Lebanon and since…

Photographer’s Manifesto

I have been thinking a lot recently about how social media affects photography and influences certain style. There are specific trends on Instagram for example that keep cropping up consistently and I feel as if there is tremendous pressure to follow them. What if the photography that you choose to shoot is different than mainstream? What if what you like to create does not fit into any category or cannot be neatly placed into a box with a specific label on it? Does that mean you should not share your work? Is your work only valid if it receives a…

Galapagos Part II

Galapagos compromises a lot larger of a region than I initially thought. The route we took was the East to West route. We visited the following islands: North Seymour Rabida Bartolome Isabela San Cristobal Your journey may be completely different than mine, you may be visiting all, none or some of the aforementioned islands and you may be encountering very different species of animals than I did. But that’s part of the beauty of the Galapagos. Each place is incerdibly unique. Overall, however, traveling the Galapagos felt a lot like being transported back into another era. A Jurassic Park…

New post (finally!) and Galapagos Part I

It’s hard to believe I had done what I told myself from the beginning I would not do – I have neglected posting to this blog. Part of it has to do with a difficult family situation I had to face, but that of course, as most things in life, is an excuse. Good thing is that despite everything that was going on I continued to shoot and have recently started a small project, which I am super excited to share with you guys. But first, GALAPAGOS! Thanks to my wonderful boyfriend, I was recently able to fulfill one of…

On photographing people (Part II)

Since I have actually acquired quite a number of people portraits over the years, I wanted to share some more with everyone on this blog. I noted that my previous entry was received very well and I cannot be more excited about that. You guys have given me more motivation to continue shooting travel portraits and people in general and as we are nearing the end of the current year, I have started writing down some travel goals for 2017. I’m secretly hoping to return to Nicaragua to shoot some additional photos for Empowerment International, I want to do…
